Rome, 20 November (LaPresse) – ‘Listening to children, recognising their needs, protecting their rights: this is the commitment that today’s Day urges us to maintain on a daily basis.’ These were the words of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in his statement on the occasion of World Children’s and Adolescents’ Day. ‘I call on everyone to recognise the value of their words, their experiences and their needs as an integral part of the life of our community,’ continued the Head of State. ‘A concrete, daily and shared commitment is needed to restore confidence, protection and real opportunities for growth to young people, giving effect to the constitutional principles that protect children and promote their human and social development,’ he emphasised. The suffering of a child is the defeat of an entire community, while every time a young person grows up feeling listened to, welcomed and respected, the community is renewed and finds, in their voice, hope for the future.”
