Washington (USA), Aug. 21 (LaPresse) – US President Donald Trump appeared on the radio program of his former associate and lawyer, now adversary, Michael Cohen, giving rise to a surprising public reunion with the man who once described him as a “Cheetos-covered cartoon villain” and who testified against him both in court and before Congress. Part of the interview aired last night on Cohen’s radio program on 77 WABC, while the full interview will be broadcast on Sunday. “They weaponized you like nobody ever has, like very few others,” Trump told Cohen. “I respect the fact that you recanted everything you said – he continued -. That’s an important thing you did.” In an interview with CNN shortly before the radio interview aired, Cohen said he had resubmitted a pardon request to the White House, previously rejected by the previous administration, but had not yet received a response and intended to follow up on it today. Cohen also said he had had several conversations with the president over the past year and introduced the interview by explaining his decision to turn the page. “Forgiving – he stressed – does not mean having amnesia. It does not mean that the past never happened. It does not mean that the scars disappear, that the pain was fake or that I have forgotten even a single moment of what happened, it does not. Forgiving does not mean erasing history. It means having the courage to decide that yesterday will no longer dictate tomorrow.”
