Crosetto: “Italian ships will pass through Bab el-Mandeb”

Rome, 17 Sept. (LaPresse) – “In view of the difficult international situation, I have decided, together with the Chief of the Defence Staff, not to wait for Aspides to decide whether or not the ships can pass through Bab el-Mandeb.” So said Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, speaking at the Risorsa Mare 2026 Forum in La Spezia. Crosetto emphasised that Italy is capable of guaranteeing the passage and announced his intention to ensure that Italian ships can “begin to pass through without waiting for European bureaucracy to compound our own and cause further delays”.
