Rome, Apr 25 (LaPresse) – In 2026, overall, 7.4 million Italians will travel for the May 1st long weekend. Of these, 2.4 million are minors, for a total of 22 million overnight stays and an estimated turnover of 3.8 billion euros. 92% of our fellow citizens will also choose to stay in Italy, while only 8% will opt to go abroad. These are the first results of the survey conducted by Tecnè for Federalberghi regarding Italian travel for Labour Day. The average holiday duration will be 3 days, while per capita spending will reach 512 euros, with a daily expenditure of around 170 euros per person. What emerges is a reduction in the average length of stay, set at 3 days. This should be read as a direct effect of the calendar: last year, in fact, the May 1st long weekend fell on a Thursday, offering an excellent opportunity to connect it with the April 25th holiday and thus plan a “long bridge”. But the reduction in available time will not lead Italians to give up travelling, but rather to a reshaping of the trip.
