Former Ilva: trade union-government talks begin at Palazzo Chigi, chaired by Mantovano

Rome, 16 Sept. (LaPresse) – The meeting between the government and trade unions regarding the former Ilva plant in Taranto has begun at Palazzo Chigi, chaired by the Under-Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office, Alfredo Mantovano. Representing the government are: the Minister for the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti (via video link); the Minister for Enterprise and ‘Made in Italy’, Adolfo Urso; the Minister for European Affairs, Cohesion Policies and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Tommaso Foti; the Minister for Labour and Social Policies, Marina Calderone; the Under-Secretary to the Prime Minister with responsibility for Policies for the South, Luigi Sbarra. Representing the trade unions are Fiom-Cgil, Fim-Cisl, Uilm-Uil, Ugl Metalmeccanici, Usb and Federmanager. Also present are representatives from Invitalia, the special commissioners of Acciaierie d’Italia and the special commissioners of the Ilva Group. “The priority is to halt redundancies in the supply chain,” the trade unions explained ahead of the meeting.
