Defence, Crosetto: ‘Hybrid warfare targets critical infrastructure’

(LaPresse) – “Hybrid warfare is ongoing and targets critical infrastructure, decision-making centres, essential services and the stability of every country, with daily and growing risks of catastrophic damage. The attacks – conducted in the form of disinformation, cognitive warfare and cyber warfare – exploit the awareness that “the West often chooses not to react”.” This is what we read in the Non-paper by the Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, “The fight against hybrid warfare: an active strategy”. ‘In summary, as with violations of airspace, territorial waters or land borders, it is also necessary to prepare for legitimate and timely responses on the hybrid front. We need to move quickly from the current containment posture to a concrete defensive posture (which in the hybrid sphere can only be proactive), both at the national level and within alliances. We are under attack and the “hybrid bombs continue to fall”: the time to act is “now”.”
