Childhood, UNICEF: ‘5.7% of children in Italy live in conditions of severe deprivation’

Rome, 20 Nov. (LaPresse) – “In Italy, the relative monetary poverty rate among children was around 25% between 2013 and 2018, falling to 23.2% in 2023. Living standards between 2018 and 2023 improved by 8.6%, while relative income poverty improved by 5.3%. In 2024, 5.7% of children in our country were living in conditions of severe material and social deprivation, a sharp decline compared to 2015. However, in 2022, 32.9% of 15-year-olds in Italy did not have a room of their own.” This was stated by the President of UNICEF Italy, Nicola Graziano, on the occasion.
