Milan, 18 November (LaPresse) – ‘I will soon take up the role of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Knowledge Officer of the World Bank, based in Washington. I am resigning as President of the Eurogroup and Minister of Finance for Ireland, effective today.’ This was announced by the President of the Eurogroup, Ireland’s Paschal Donohoe, in a statement confirming his resignation from his current position. “The opportunity to serve as President of the Eurogroup has been one of the greatest honours of my public career. Working with my Eurogroup colleagues, we have faced many challenges, including the Covid pandemic, the effects of soaring inflation due to the unjustified war against the Ukrainian people, and the consequences for Europe of a rapidly changing world,‘ Donohoe said, adding that ’it has been a privilege to serve as President and Member of the Eurogroup; I have done my best every single day. I want to do the same in the work of the globally important institution I am now joining, at a time of great change in our world.”
