Crans-Montana: Mayor Féraud is being questioned today

Milan, 13 April. (LaPresse) – The mayor of Crans-Montana, Nicolas Féraud, was questioned today over the New Year’s Eve fire at the Le Constellation bar, which caused 41 deaths and 115 injuries. The Swiss newspaper Blick reports it. He is accused of manslaughter, among other charges. “This hearing means that it took three months and ten days for the mayor to be questioned as an accused, despite having admitted serious shortcomings as early as January 6th”, declared the lawyer of the families involved in the fire, Sébastien Fanti, interviewed by the Keystone-ATS agency. “For families, the word that comes to mind is: finally,” he added. Five days after the tragedy, the municipality of Crans-Montana admitted in a press conference that the Le Constellation bar had not been inspected since 2019. “We cannot explain why these inspections were not carried out,” Nicolas Féraud said at the time.
