Mexico: Teotihuacan archaeological site reopens following a shooting

Rome, 23 Apr. (LaPresse) – The archaeological site of Teotihuacan in Mexico has reopened to tourists after being closed for around 48 hours following a shooting in which a man, Julio César Jasso Ramírez, climbed the main pyramid and opened fire on the crowd, killing a Canadian tourist and injuring 13 others before taking his own life. To bolster security – local media report – the National Guard has been deployed at the archaeological site’s access points, carrying out thorough checks on tourists’ bags and rucksacks.
