Iran: Araghchi leaves Pakistan without meeting the US delegation

Frankfurt (Germany), 25 April (LaPresse) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has left Pakistan without meeting US officials. This was reported by the Lebanese broadcaster Al-Mayadeen. Previously, Iranian media had reported that Tehran was refusing to meet with American representatives as long as the US Central Command’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz continued. The Iranians officially announced overnight that they had no intention of meeting Washington’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who were due to leave for Pakistan later in the day. According to Axios, Araghchi’s itinerary includes stops in Oman and Russia, and a possible return to Pakistan early this week to meet the American delegation. In the meantime, however, Witkoff and Kushner are still in Miami. At present, there appears to be no progress towards a second round of talks.
