US: Buckingham Palace discusses King Charles’s visit following Washington shooting

Turin, 26 Apr. (LaPresse) – Buckingham Palace has announced that, following the shooting in Washington, the UK and the US will hold talks today regarding security arrangements for King Charles’s state visit to the US, scheduled for this week. This has been reported by the British media. King Charles ‘is being kept fully informed of developments and is very relieved to learn that the President, the First Lady and all guests are unharmed,’ a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said in a statement, adding that ‘discussions will take place throughout the day to assess the extent to which Saturday evening’s events may or may not affect the operational planning of the visit’. According to media reports, King Charles and Queen Camilla privately contacted US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump following last night’s events.
