Milan, 12 Sept. (LaPresse) – Andrea Kimi Antonelli set the fastest time in the third free practice session of the 2026 Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, at the brand-new circuit in Madrid. The Mercedes driver clocked a time of 1’32″797, with a lead of +0.166 seconds over Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari. Third and fourth places went to the two McLarens driven by Oscar Piastri (+0.189) and Lando Norris (+0.236). Fifth place, meanwhile, went to Max Verstappen’s Red Bull (+0.375), followed by George Russell’s other Mercedes (+0.702). Lewis Hamilton’s other Mercedes managed only ninth place (+1.487); the British driver crashed into the wall halfway through the session – fortunately without serious consequences, but with the car heavily damaged. FP3 ended early due to another crash, this time involving Oliver Bearman in his Haas, which led to the red flag being raised. Qualifying for pole position on the new Madring circuit takes place at 4 pm.
