AI, Zuckerberg: “A positive future if the right balance of power is maintained”

Turin, 16 Sept. (LaPresse) – “I believe the key to building a positive future for everyone is maintaining the right balance of power. We have the opportunity to do so.” Meta’s chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg, wrote this on X as he joined the debate on the potential risks associated with developments in artificial intelligence. “ Every lab has a responsibility and an incentive to proceed at the pace necessary to train its models safely, as well as the ability to independently take the necessary steps to ensure this happens,” he explains. “People won’t want to use agents that aren’t aligned with them and that don’t do what they ask, so labs have a strong natural incentive to make their models more aligned,” emphasises the Facebook founder. “There is a lot of discussion about the possibility of slowing down progress in model capabilities until alignment catches up. My view is that trust and alignment are rapidly becoming the most important capabilities distinguishing agents and models. Any lab that does not focus on alignment will eventually fall behind.”
