Health, Schillaci: “Concrete commitment to women’s well-being throughout their entire lives”

Rome, Apr 21 (LaPresse) – “Women’s health is a heritage to be protected, for the well-being of all women and of the community.” This is what Health Minister Orazio Schillaci states on the occasion of the National Women’s Health Day, celebrated on April 22, established by the Fondazione Atena Onlus and promoted by the ministry itself.

“This day,” the minister continues, “helps us shine a spotlight and draw attention to women’s health at all stages of life. As a government, we have immediately committed to promoting an increasingly personalized and appropriate approach to women’s health. We work to ensure for all women, at every age, the best practices in care, assistance and, above all, prevention.”

“Prevention, in particular, which we have brought back to the center of the government agenda and investments, is the most effective tool to protect the future. Essential,” Schillaci continues, “are regular check-ups and, above all, cancer screenings, which we have strengthened also thanks to the latest budget law by expanding the age groups eligible for breast cancer screening.”

The budget law has also made it possible to extend “genomic tests in cases of advanced or metastatic breast carcinoma. With the update of the Essential Levels of Care (LEA), new services will then be introduced, including active surveillance for women with genetic risk of hereditary breast and ovarian cancers. Attention to women’s health,” he concludes, “is a commitment we are carrying forward on multiple fronts, with conviction, for full protection of women’s well-being throughout their entire lives.”
