World Cup, Rabat: “2030 final will be played in Morocco, not Spain”

Madrid (Spain), Sept. 10 (LaPresse) – Amid tensions over the crisis in Ceuta, Morocco has once again reiterated that the 2030 World Cup final will be held at the Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca, which is still under construction, and not in Spain. The 2030 World Cup will be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco. FIFA has not yet announced the venues for each country, and it is still unknown which city will host the final. Pedro Sanchez’s government is pushing for it to be held in Spain. “Benslimane province will have the honor of hosting the 2030 World Cup final,” said the president of the Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, who is also deputy budget minister and one of the leading architects of the revival of Moroccan football in recent years, according to Spanish media. Rabat’s statements have sparked controversy, with the Spanish People’s Party taking the opportunity to attack the government. “Morocco takes it for granted that it will host the final and the government is doing nothing. No pressure, no strategy, no known initiative. The final would not be awarded to Morocco, but taken away from Spain. If this is confirmed, we will have to rethink our role,” PP spokesman Borja Semper wrote on social media.
