Maltesi murder: Fontana sentenced to life imprisonment on third appeal, premeditation recognised

Milan, 16 Sept. (LaPresse) – The Second Milan Court of Assizes of Appeal has sentenced Davide Fontana to life imprisonment for the third time for the murder of Carol Maltesi on 11 January 2022. Following the two quashing of previous verdicts by the Court of Cassation, the panel presided over by Judge Enrico Manzi has also recognised that the 46-year-old premeditated the murder of the 26-year-old woman, who was killed in Rescaldina by 13 blows with a hammer and a stab wound whilst she was tied up, gagged with adhesive tape and hooded during the filming of an adult video which he himself had commissioned via a fake social media profile to sell on OnlyFans. The request for a conviction made by Deputy Attorney General Simona Bellaviti, who this morning had once again called for the maximum sentence for Fontana, was upheld. It will now take 60 days for the grounds for the appeal to be filed. Only after the ruling has been read will lawyer Stefano Paloschi, who is representing Fontana, decide whether to lodge a third appeal to the Court of Cassation, once again focusing on the issue of premeditation. “I need to discuss this with my client; we will only be able to decide once we have read the grounds for the ruling,” says Paloschi.
